Glamour Time™ Dianthus stands out for its oversized hot pink flowers on a compact plant just 6 to 8 inches tall and 5 to 10 inches wide. Dianthus gratianopolitanus 'G19-159' gives a longer bloom season than many older pinks, with lightly fragrant flowers repeating from late spring into early fall. That makes it a better fit for edging, rock gardens, and containers needing long-season performance. Our garden designer likes this selection for small spaces because the flowers feel generously sized for such a low cushion of foliage. The foliage of Glamour Time™ is evergreen to semi-evergreen and stays dense and low. This selection is deer resistant, pollinator friendly, and notably heat and drought tolerant once rooted in, which makes it useful in sunny spots that dry out faster than average. The plant keeps a clean outline instead of flopping open, so it works well at the front of mixed borders or repeated through gravel gardens for structure. It also handles container life well, especially in pots where the flowers can sit close to eye level and carry the display for months.Glamour Time™ Dianthus CarePlant Glamour Time™ in full sun for the strongest flowering and the tightest growth. Dianthus prefers well-drained soil, especially sandy or loamy ground, with a neutral to slightly alkaline pH around 6.5 to 7.5. Good drainage is essential, because crowns can decline quickly in heavy soil that stays wet.Water regularly after planting, then let the top inch of soil dry before watering again once the plant is established. A light spring feeding with a balanced fertilizer is enough, since rich feeding promotes extra leaves at the expense of flowers. In colder parts of its range, the foliage may look worn by late winter, but the crown usually comes through and sends up fresh growth as temperatures settle.Deadhead individual flowers to keep new buds coming, or shear the whole plant lightly after a flush to freshen the mound and encourage another round. Do not cut into the woody base when trimming, because dianthus rebounds best when some green growth remains. In containers, give it winter protection from repeated freeze-thaw swings and refresh the soil every couple of seasons to keep the crown healthy.Glamour Time™ Dianthus SpacingSpace plants 15 to 18 inches apart so each mound has room to fill without trapping moisture between crowns. For containers, use a pot at least 10 to 12 inches wide for one plant, or group several in a broad bowl with extra grit in the mix for drainage. In the landscape, pair Glamour Time™ Dianthus with poppies and lavender for a dry, sunny planting that keeps color moving through the season. In containers, add geraniums around the edge and petunias for trailing contrast below the bright pink blooms.
