Broad, green leaves have smooth edges and come to a point. The Syringa meyeri is easy to maintain, so you can stop to smell the flowers instead of taking care of this beautiful shrub. Fragrant blooms are a draw for butterflies, and birds are also attracted to this shrub. The green leaves stay in place for the rest of the growing season, so this deer-resistant shrub will continue to provide lush, visual interest. Pearl Potion™ Lilac Care This lilac requires full sun and rich, moist, well-drained soil. Deeply water the plant every week and a half to two weeks. Fertilize your lilac in early spring using balanced plant food. Prune the plants to maintain their shape after the flowers are done blooming. The plant will set the following years buds shortly after the flowers fade, so prune before the buds are set to ensure abundant blooms next year.
