Wedding Party® Mix Lenten Rose spreads the luxe, double-flowered look of the WEDDING PARTY® series in a deliberately blended color mix across a planting. Each order comes with one evergreen plant that forms a mounding clump about 1824 inches tall and 1824 inches wide. Hans Hansen selected this series for vigor and heavy bloom count, so youre not waiting years for each plant to look good. Each plant blooms a single color (black, mauve purple, white, yellow, or pink), and weve found that planting in 3s is the simplest way to land a broader range without overthinking it.Expect six weeks or more of flowers beginning in late winter into early to mid-spring, right when the garden feels empty and pollinators are hunting for early nectar. The nodding doubles hold up well in the landscape and also make classy indoor accents when you float a few blooms in a shallow bowl. Helleborus x hybridus is a slow grower, but once established its long-lived, deer and rabbit resistant, and notably tolerant of dry shade compared with many woodland perennials. Evergreen foliage keeps structure through the seasons in woodland edges, under deciduous trees, and in patio containers that need to look finished outside of bloom time.Wedding Party® Mix Lenten Rose CareGrow this mix in part shade (46 hours of direct sun) or full shade, with protection from hot afternoon sun in warmer zones. Start with moist, well-drained soil amended with compost or leaf mold. Aim for neutral to alkaline soil (around pH 7.0 or higher), though it will usually tolerate slightly different readings as long as drainage is reliable.Water regularly during the first season. Afterward, soak the soil when the top few inches are dry and the foliage looks less firm in the morning. A light application of a balanced, granular fertilizer or a compost top-dress in early spring supports bloom and fresh foliage growth. In late winter to early spring, cut away last years tired evergreen leaves before the new flower stems and foliage push up, which keeps the clump clean and makes the blooms easier to see. After flowering, remove spent stems if you want fewer volunteer seedlings; if you dont mind surprises, let a few develop and move young seedlings later. Skip division unless you truly need to, since established plants often resent being disturbed.Wedding Party® Mix Lenten Rose SpacingSpace plants 1824 inches apart to let each clump fill in without crowding. For a single specimen in a pot, use a container about 1418 inches wide with drainage holes and a moisture-holding mix. In the ground, tuck it among ajuga, Japanese painted fern, and sedge for layered texture; in containers, pair with bergenia (pigsqueak) and bleeding heart so the foliage show continues after the hellebore blooms fade.
